Vodafone UK Selling HD2 Now
Hey, UK gadget nerds, does the idea of a 4.3" capacitive touchscreen or a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor make you weak in the knees? If so, you might be interested in some news my Update Scanner just delivered; the HD2 is now available from Vodafone UK. (BGR) All of the reviews for this sweet new smartphone have been very complementary on the hardware. The OS, Windows Mobile 6.5, has taken a lot of flak however.
That said, this smartphone does run the HTC Sense UI over 6.5, which is supposed to deal with the bulk of most users WinMo complaints. It's a shame that such a gorgeous device has to be hobbled with such a mediocre OS, but life isn't fair. I'm still holding onto the hope that HTC will roll out the HTC Dragon, an Android-running HTC HD2, soon.

HTC HD2 Coming To US Early 2010, Europe & Asia Now
Finally. After months of agonized waiting, we have confirmation from HTC themselves that the gorgeous, snapdragon-sporting HD2 will be making its way to the United States. The HD2 launched today in Europe and Taiwan, and HTC confirmed during in their press release that the WinMo 6.5 smartphone will come to the USA in early 2010. No exact date was given, and the carrier hasn't been identified yet, but at least we know the HD2 is coming.
The HD2 is the first Windows Mobile phone to sport the HTC Sense UI. That makes the somewhat underwhelming WinMo 6.5 operating system a much more attractive proposition. While we don't know what carrier the HD2 will launch with over here, some rumors point to T-Mobile.

HTC CEO Peter Chou Talks HD2, Other Devices
With its 4.3” touchscreen and 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, the HD2 is one of the hottest smartphones on the market. The only issue with the handset is that it runs the widely panned WinMo 6.5 OS. Our hopes were raised earlier this week when we heard that an Android version of the HD2 was headed for Verizon. Unfortunately, it now looks like those rumors were untrue.
In an interview with Forbes, HTC CEO Peter Chou stated that "technically, we could make the HD2 an Android phone, but I have to take care of Windows Mobile."

Android Loaded HD2 Clone Coming To Verizon?
If you're like me, the HTC HD2 presented a genuine temptation. If it weren't for the fact that it was a WinMo 6.5 device, the HD2 would have been a much more attractive proposition. Fortunately, it looks like we're about to get our shot at a clone of the HD2 that runs the Android OS. Unlockr (via Gizmodo) has found that the mystery HTC phone that's been floating around the 'net lately is, in fact, the HTC Dragon.

HTC HD2 Coming To T-Mobile
T-Mobile users have had to get used to bland phones for far too long. Even the myTouch 3G isn't particularly exciting from a hardware standpoint. That's why it's a breath of fresh air to hear about the coming of the HTC HD2 to T-Mobile. Finally, the beleaguered carrier will have a real powerhouse of a smartphone on their hands.

T-Mobile Will Get HTC Touch HD2 Soon?
The HTC Leo is severely testing my commitment to Android. I love that little green robot quite a lot, but there's something about a 4.3" touchscreen, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, and 5 megapixel camera that just makes me weak in the knees. Anyway, we now have solid information that the Leo is being renamed the HTC Touch HD2 when it comes to T-Mobile Europe in the near future. CoolSmartphone.com (via BGR) has managed to nab some documents that show the HD2 as a new T-Mo handset.

HTC Touch HD2 Has Android+Faster Processor
It looks like HTC is getting ready to revamp one of their touchscreen smartphones. The HTC Touch HD, a WinMo smartphone, is getting a small hardware boost and a switch over to the Android OS, according to Register Hardware. The switch from WinMo to Android is a pretty clear sign of the increasing favor HTC has shown Google's OS recently.
The main change between the HD and the HD2 will be processor based. Most HTC handsets run on a Qualcomm 528 MHz processor. The HD2, on the other hand, will sport a 628 MHz processor. That's not nearly as impressive as the Snapdragon, but it's a big boost for HTC's handset line.

Sanyo Xacti FH11, HD2000, WH1, CA9 and CG10 unveiled
Sanyo announced today the line-up of new Xacti camcorder for 2009 and impresses with cool new models.
The new mixed form factor (Horizontal, Vertical) line-up of 5 video cameras include new waterproof HD models DMX-WH1 and DMX-CA9, a compact HD unit dubbed DMX-CG10, and Full HD with 60fps cameras DMX-FH11 and DMX-HD2000.
Sanyo highlights now that the Xacti cameras are Dual cameras as they combine the benefits of digital still cameras and camcorders into one unit. Most camcorders do take still photos, so I am not sure if this is a strong argument for the Xacti camcorders. I find many other aspects of the Xacti line much more interesting like small size and design.

I4U Review Round-up: Gateway P172X FX, Gateway FHD2400, Navigon 2100
This week we reviewed for instance the new gaming notebook from Gateway: Gateway P172X FX 17-inch Gaming Notebook Computer. The Gateway P172X FX offers a lot of gaming performance for a reasonable price of $1,999 (reasonable for a gaming machine). The notebook is large making it not the best choice for really mobile types, but the full size keyboard and performance make the Gateway P172X FX ideal for gaming on the go. Read the full review. More reviews from last week below.

Gateway FHD2400 24-inch Monitor Review
The test lab at our review partner Digital Trends published a review of the stylish 24 inch LCD monitor FHD2400 from Gateway. The FHD2400 does not only look good, it scored an Editors' Choice award as well.
Quote from the review: "PC owners, rejoice: Gateway has unveiled its latest 24" widescreen LCD monitor, and it's a doozy. This glossy-coated behemoth delivers impressive image quality; more ports and connectors than you can shake a stick at; and a fast response time that will please gamers and movie-watchers alike. It's even relatively affordable at $500 - or at least is compared to other 24" LCDs.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 Review
Our review partner Digital Trends published a review of the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 digital camcorder.
Quote from the review:
"Enter the Sanyo VPC-HD2 Xacti HD camcorder for $699 USD list (around $600 USD in stores). This Secure Digital card based camcorder records 720p video versus 1080i for all the other HD competitors. Still it is officially high-def and uses MPEG-4 compression. Not only does it record high-def video it takes 7.1-megapixel stills, the best of any camcorder on the market.

Kenwood announces 20GB MP3 Player HD20GA7
So finally Kenwood seems to have come up with an original mp3 player that is more interesting.
We reported about their flash mp3 player that they introduced earlier this year that was just not up-to-date.
The new Kenwood HD20GA7 features a 20GB hard-drive and a 2.2 type QVGA color display.
Again Kenwood talks about the outstanding sound quality this player is supposed to have with it's digital amplifier. Kenwood proclaims that it is the world's first portable HDD mp3 player with such a digital amplifier. I really look forward to a review of the HD20GA7 that analyses the audio quality claim.
The Kenwood HD20GA7 plays MP3 and WMA (supports DRM). Looks like there is no photo player available. Battery life is 24 hours. The new Kenwood measures 61×104×17mm and weighs 140g. It is shipping now in Japan. Pricing information not available.
More details in Kenwood press-release (Japanese). First seen on AkihabaraNews.

New Sony NW-HD2 Network Walkman
Sony introduces the Sony NW-HD2 network walkman. Sony introduced in July the NW-HD1 that is also currently on sale in the US and elsewhere.
That is quite quick to replace the NW-HD1 with a new model. But wait, the NW-HD2 is no replacement, its just the same player but in 3 new colors. I could not find any new feature in the press-release.
The three new colors are Silver, Blue and Pink. The display backlight color was also changed to blue. All just to make the new Sony Network Walkman more fashionable. But what about Sony's MP3 commitment? Mp3 is still not supported in the new NW-HD2.
Anyway the 20GB Sony NW-HD2 will go on sale October 10th in Japan. More details in Sony Press-Release (Japanese).
