The new game release in the Xbox 360 Halo francise - Halo 3 ODST is going to be released in two days on September 22nd. The Halo 3 ODST review embargo got lifted over the weekend and some of the major gaming sites released their in-depth reviews of Halo 3 ODST.
IGN gives Halo 3 ODST an 9 out of 10 rating highlighting the new Firefight. The 4-player co-op "Firefight" mode offers a whole new way to play Halo with friends both via system link and over Xbox LIVE.
IGN says Halo 3 ODST is not a true sequel, but it is more than a standard expansion. Halo 3 ODST is all about multi-player.

Jabra Launches Halo Bluetooth Stereo Headset

Jabra makes all kinds of Bluetooth headsets for mobile phone users and it has unveiled a new stereo Bluetooth headset called the Halo. The Halo is designed for streaming music wirelessly from all sorts of multimedia devices including smartphones like the iPhone and Blackberry devices.

The Halo can connect to two Bluetooth phones at one time and it can connect to devices like TVs, game consoles, and laptops as well. The device is available today in Best Buy stereos around the country. Read more

Mega Bloks Gives Away 10,000 Halo Wars Figures

Mega Bloks is giving away some cool and limited edition Halo Wars figures for fans that are collecting the Halo Wars edition building kits that the company makes. The 10K characters will be given away on a first come, first serve basis.

There will be 9,900 Limited Edition UNSC Steel Spartans along with 100 ultra rare randomly inserted UNSC Active Camo Spartan figures sent to lucky fans. Each of the figures is 1.75-inches tall and will include its own weapon and camouflage effect block. Read more

Project Natal To Hit With Halo Reach, August 2010?

Halo is probably the signature Xbox series, as well as one of the most popular video game series of all time. On September 22nd the next installment in the franchise, Halo 3: ODST will hit stores. Barring miracles or magic, there's no way we'll see Natal come out in time for Halo 3. But the next Halo game in the line-up, Halo: Reach, is scheduled for August of 2010, and it looks like we can expect to see it released as a Natal game.

This isn't just idle fan speculation either. Bungie has announced that they are looking at the possibility of making Reach work with Natal. At E3 this year Bungie attended a super-secret Project Natal briefing, and they emerged impressed with the technology. Bungie President Harold Ryan has even said that,

Jabra Unveils the Halo Music Headset

Jabra has announced a new headset for Bluetooth enabled DAPs that can also be used on corded music devices. The new headset is called the Halo and offers high sound quality according to Jabra. The headset can connect to TVs, laptops, mobile phones, and DAPs.

The headset can be controlled by touch sensitive buttons located on one side of the headset and the headset fades out to incoming calls when used for listening to music. Halo is compatible with any Bluetooth device using A2DP technology and all devices with 3.5mm headphone jacks. Read more

Microsoft Hiring for New Halo Project

A Microsoft job posting on CareerBuilder for a software development engineer revealed Microsoft’s plans to take “the current Halo community and online gaming support system and bring it to the next level.”

What that means specifically is not stated in the job post. Though, as quoted in the posting, the goal of the project is to “blend console, web, and mobile to create an immersive Halo world that follows the dedicated Halo fan wherever they go.”

Could this be a multi-platform Halo experience combining the XBOX 360, PC, and Windows Mobile-enabled phones? According to an Edge report last month, Microsoft has been actively pursuing content deals with major game publishers, including EA and Gameloft. The post also stresses that Microsoft is looking to build a scalable online infrastructure, suggesting users would be able to access it in multiple ways.

GameStop Will Host Halo Wars Midnight Launch Events

Anytime a new Halo game is set to launch on the Xbox 360 you can bet that it will be a hit and launch events for the game will be held. GameStop has announced that it will be hosting midnight launch events at many of its locations around the country on March 2nd starting at 10pm for the launch of Halo Wars.

The game retailer says that among the events being held will be Halo 3 tournaments, warthog races, character dress up contests and trivia challenges. GameStop also says that those attending will get a chance to score removable Halo skins for their console. Read more

Halo 3: Recon debuts at TGS 2008

Microsoft debuts Halo 3: Recon at the TGS 2008 today.
At the E3 in July Bungie did not get presentation time to show what is coming to the Halo franchise. Now it was their turn to show off Halo 3: Recon.
Halo 3: Recon is a new chapter in the Halo saga that lets gamers experience events leading up to the epic story told in Halo 3 through the eyes of a new hero in the Halo universe.

The stand-alone Halo expansion set to release in fall 2009 and extends Halo 3 experience with hours of new campaign excursions and multiplayer gameplay. You can see a trailer video of Halo 3: Recon on the Bungie site.

Xbox Live Down because of posting TrueSkill Statistics on Halo 3

Following the downtime of Xbox Live yesterday, some Xbox 360 users are experiencing connection issues right now because Microsoft is posting TrueSkill statistics on Halo 3.
The Xbox support page calls the issues intermittent. Update: Looks like the issue just got more severe as Microsoft updated the support page with: "Users will not be able to connect or log into Xbox LIVE. We are aware of the problem and working to resolve the issue." Update: Xbox LIVE supposedly up again, but still some issues might still occur.

We see quite some hits on our Xbox Live Down stories indicating that currently lots of Xbox users cannot connect to Xbox Live. Read more

LG announces that they will commence mass-production of environmentally friendly 13.3 inch notebook display panels this month.

The new LCD panels are halogen-free, meaning that the concentration of Bromine (Br) and chlorine (Cl) got dramatically reduced in these panels. Read more

Bungie's future Halo a No-Show at E3, because Microsoft had too much News

There was some controversy about Bungie not being able to show what they're working on at the E3 2008, because of Microsoft.

Bungie posted a statement on their site that they are very disappointed about not being able to show what they're working on to the fans.
The LA Times reports now why Microsoft held Bungie back. Apparently the E3 2008 briefing of Microsoft was initially 150min. long, which is way to long for us journalists to keep alert. Also Microsoft's Don Mattrick says that the Bungie's Halo news would be done more justice with a more dedicated event. Read more

Halo 3 Has Huge First Week Sales

Halo 3 had what is being called one of the largest entertainment releases in of all time. Halo 3 sold more than $300 Million in its first week of availability. This sales figures put Halo 3 as the fastest-selling video game ever.

Microsoft says reports from retailer’s worldwide show that console sales have more than doubled compared with the weekly average before the release of Halo 3. This shows us that not only are existing Xbox owners buying Halo 3, but the game is driving new hardware sales as well. Read more

Microsoft offers to replace scratched Halo 3 Limited Edition Game Discs

Looks like there are some unlucky Halo 3 users out there, who got a scratched Halo 3 disc from Microsoft.

The Halo 3 Limited Edition Game Disc and Essentials Disc are apparently prone to scratches by the packaging. Microsoft just issued a free replacement program for those Halo 3 discs that is running until the end of the year. Read more

Last night across the nation Halo 3 launch events took place. Over 10,000 retailers stayed open late.

More than 1.5 million copies of Halo 3 have already sold before launch. Bill Gates handed out the first Halo 3 copy in Seattle.
