Windows Mobile 6.5 Reviews Confirm The Obvious
Microsoft launched Windows Mobile 6.5 officially today. Microsoft itself sees WinMo 6.5 as a transitional release to pass the time to Windows Mobile 7 that is supposed to come in 2010.
The Windows Mobile 6.5 reviews on Gizmodo and Engadget for instance hightlight that Microsoft did not really change much in this release and it is more a 6.2 release. How is it possible that Microsoft dropped the ball on their mobile OS? Palm's brand new webOS or of course Apple's iPhone OS just make it look old.

Windows Mobile 6.5, Available October 6th
If you are a fan of Windows Mobile, this is going to be a very good holiday season for you. Microsoft has just announced that WinMo 6.5 will be available starting October 6th. We are just five weeks away from launch day. Microsoft has released some screenshots of the new OS, and they've also put out a list of where you'll be able to find WinMo 6.5 phones this Fall.

Designer Isaac Mizrahi to Design Free Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes
Microsoft announced today that it would be teaming with renowned fashion designers to produce a series of free themes for Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets. The first designer to produce free themes will be Isaac Mizrahi.
Mizrahi will design themes that include color palettes and wallpaper. Additional designers will be announced in the coming months. Windows mobile users will also get a new Theme Generator to allow personalization of their phones. The applications will be available later this year and let users choose the color for the nav bar, scroll bar, and highlighted text along with background images. Read more

MWC 2009: Windows Mobile 6.5 Hands-On Videos
Microsoft officially unveiled Windows Mobile 6.5 at the MWC 2009 in Barcelona. The new WinMo update looks quite nice and is something to look forward to when it gets released on the first handsets in the middle of this year.
The new HTC Touch Pro2 and HTC Touch Diamond2 will be upgradable to Windows Mobile 6.5. At the MWC 2009 HTC already showed off a Diamond2 running Windows Mobile 6.5. Engadget and Gizmodo published video walkthroughs of the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS running on the Diamond2.

HTC Touch Diamond2 and Pro2 upgradable to Windows Mobile 6.5
Today HTC unveiled the hot HTC Touch Pro2 and the HTC Touch Diamond2 smartphones at the MWC 2009.
These new HTC Windows phones will ship initially with Windows Mobile 6.1 in Summer and Q2 respectively. Microsoft stated in their Windows Mobile 6.5 announcement that the Diamond2 and the Pro2 will be upgradable to Windows Mobile 6.5.

LG LG-GM730 to run Windows Mobile 6.5 with 3D S-Class User Interface
LG has intensified the partnership with Microsoft and will unveil one of the first Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphones. The LG LG-GM730 will run WinMo 6.5 and the new LG 3D S-Class User Interface already announced for the LG Arena.
The LG-GM730 is only 11.9mm thin and features a touchscreen. Pretty much everything else remains unspecified about the LG-GM730 for now.

Windows Mobile 6.5 unveiled at MWC 2009
As anticipated Microsoft unveiled Windows Mobile 6.5 at the MWC 2009 today.
The new Windows Mobile 6.5 honey comb home screen keeps people up-to-date on important information by providing a dashboard-like experience to items such as new e-mails, texts, missed calls and calendar appointments.
Windows Mobile 6.5 also includes an improved touch-screen interface, making it easy to take action with a finger, and an updated version of the latest Internet Explorer Mobile browser, which in a third-party research study sponsored by Microsoft supported execution of up to 48% more assigned tasks than the other browsers and phones studied.

New leaked Windows Mobile 6.5 Screenshots are really pretty
Every time a Windows Mobile 6.5 screenshot leaks they get more and more beautiful. Could it be that Microsoft has done a really nice job with Windows Mobile 6.5? Will it actually be able to stand against Palm WebOS and Apple iPhone OS in coolness?
GadgetMix (Via Engadget) published several Windows Mobile 6.5 screenshots showing the interesting Honeycomb interface.
There is also lots of transparency in the UI of WinMo 6.5 that display status information like incoming calls on top of desktop wallpaper.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Smartphones earliest Q3 2009?
It is assumed that Microsoft will debut Windows Mobile 6.5 at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona next month. Digitimes reports now that Microsoft is delivering Windows Mobile 6.5 mid-year to device makers like HTC.
This would mean the first Windows Mobile 6.5 powered smartphones would hit the market in Q3 and most of them actually in Q4 2009.
In the meantime Microsoft lets Android build up its momentum with new handsets like the rumored G2 and Palm can have its run on the smartphone market with the Palm Pre without competition from WinMo phones.
