Hitachi
home & life solution company (The director
president:瀬端久仁雄(unknown word) and Hitachi H&L
henceforth), the Hitachi Ltd. machine laboratories (The head:1
克(unknown word) Miki), and Central Research Institute (The
head:Hisashi Nishino 1) developed the home cleaning robot of
the autonomous movement type with a compact body of
250mm*1 in a minimum in the world diameter
(experimental machine). This cleaning robot can install
"Movable mouthpiece" which expands from the main body in the
automatic operation, and clean the wall side and the corner
part where garbage collects easily firmly. Moreover, the suck
cleaning is done while autonomous moving based on the room
inland chart automatically generated. The absorbed garbage
is accumulated in the small collection in main body dust
cartridge once, connected with "Charge garbage throwing away
station" of another putting automatically after the cleaning
is completed, and exhausted to a large-scale box on the
station side automatically. Moreover, [it] automatically
returns to "Charge garbage throwing away station" when the
built-in nickel hydrogen battery amount of the remainder
decreases and [it] charges it. As a result, it is possible to
clean it without maintaining it for about one month in
*2 and automatic operation. All the operations
can be done by the switch button of the main body and remote
control. The image of the absent house taken with the small
color camera built into the main body will be stopped in the
future, and moreover, Internet is passed and stopped from a
portable telephone etc.; A function and a remote-controlled
function to check are scheduled to be added from the
destination.;

| - Background of development |
The home of two people or less which
centers on the aged layer and homes of working in double
harness are increasing by the change in the lifestyle
according to social advancement of 子(unknown
word) aged society of recent years and women. The load
to the body by the housework work is requested to be
reduced, and because composure is brought to busy life
in the working in double harness home, the saving of the
required time is requested to housework in the aged home
among these. Being paid attention so is a housework
support system which applies the robot technology which
remarkably accomplishes evolution in recent years. In
potential needs for especially cleaning robot,
"Cleaning" is the first places in housework in the needs
investigation of the home robot which our company
executed high. The map generation technology was
done from the machine laboratory, and Hitachi H&L
gathered each bringing something the cleaner technology
from Central Research Institute respectively, the
technology was united, and this development was done
doing the technology of the robot and mechatoronics
based on these needs. |

running system is exhibited to international trade fair

a built-in camera are installed while working on the
miniaturization, and [it] has arrived at the development
