Overview
The Vandisori MP3 player comes in nicely styled
packaging. Inside the black carton box is actually a round metal can
where the player rests on foam bed. All the accessories, and there
are a lot of them are underneath. The egg-shaped gadget comes with a
blue and gray colored housing. The material used has a solid feel to
it. The Vandisori measures 83x52x13mm and weighs 62g without the
battery. The player has so to say two displays. On one side is the
standard MP3 Player LCD display to operate the player functions. On
the backside is what looks like a mirror.
To have a mirror on the MP3 Player seems to be a new trend in Korea.
Also Jens of
Sweden has a new Player on the market that features a mirror. As
we reported JOS is OEMing korean
manufactured MP3 Players.

The
Vandisori MP3 Player is shaped like an egg. |
When listening to music the mirror display transforms into a retro
style LED Equalizer display. I must say, it looks pretty cool. Another unusual MP3 Player feature is the Flashlight the Vandisori
Player has built-in. Its a powerful LED light.

Usage
To get started I have to
charge the mp3 player. It has a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Polymer
battery. Charging takes about 90 mins. During charging a red light
shows up on the bottom of the mirror display. When fully charged the
light changes to green.
After charging I connect it to a Computer via USB and drag'n'drop a
couple files on the Players Flash drive. The sample I got features
128MB. Vandisori offers also 256MB and 512MB models.
Next I try out how this little Gadget sounds. By pushing and holding
the right-side wiggle button (Volume button) for 2 seconds the
player switches on.
 |
| The
Vandisori menu has four main items. |
A icon menu appears with four options. Play, Radio, Record and
Setup. With the left-side wiggle button (Menu button) I can navigate
between those options. By pressing the volume button I select a
function.
Selecting Play, I get presented with a list of folders and files
that are stored on the Player. I can easily scroll through it with
the volume button or use the left one to jump three listings at a
time. Selecting a track immediately plays it and displays track
information and progress. The title is scrolling through. The sound
is very good and the volume can be cranked up till it hurts. During
playback I can switch between the preset Equalizer settings. The
settings are very distinguishable. Rock sounds pretty good for Outkast's
Hey Yah. To change the equalizer settings a push on the menu
button is necessary. After that the Equalizer icon is selected and I
can change the mode with the right button that is normally
controlling the volume during playback.
Pushing the Menu button again selects the playback icon. The
Vandisori supports random, repeat one or more files, play all files
and repeat all files. This MP3 player also supports to loop a
section of a MP3 file. During playback I also can switch off the LED
equalizer or set how many lines it should use for display. Switching
off the LEDs doubles the battery life from 8hours to 16hours.
The Stop button on the left takes me
back to the main menu and I select the FM Tuner. The tuner has a preset
channel function. The radio works very good and has
excellent reception and sound. To record from FM radio is very easy.
Pressing the record button on the left starts the recording. Pushing
the Stop button on the left stops it. The recording files are stored
the Rec folder.
The Vandisori Player also has a built-in Microphone, which is pretty
handy, and there is no need to plug in an external one. The quality
of the recording is changeable in various aspects on the record
menu, for people who want to play with this.

MP3 Player I know that has a flashlight built-in. |
Conclusion
The Vandisori is an interesting
Gadget that is very well designed. The added
features, like Retro LED display, Mirror and Flashlight on top of
the full set of MP3 Player features gives it the edge over other MP3
Players. The Vandisori should definitely be a hit with teenagers.
